So, it’s now Monday morning, you wake up and realize that you have not gotten anything ready for this week, let alone for today. And by not gotten anything ready, I mean, as it pertains to the kids. You realize you don’t know what they will be doing today in school, what they will be wearing, what will they eat and snack on, or even where are all of their school supplies for the day are?! UGH?!!! HAPPY MONDAY….right?! ?

Well, no worries, #KimTheGeek is here to save the day! ??‍♀️   I have the answer to this problem of yours! Are you ready for it?

My Sunday Night Prep Routine For The Busy Mom

PREP on Sunday night’s (or day) to get ready for the week!  I know you were probably thinking of some other long, drawn out hard solution. Well, nope, the answer is easy: Prep the night before so you can get a great jumpstart for your week!  Here are some steps below for my Sunday’s Night Prep Routine that I do to help prepare for the week for my kids.

  • Write Out The Kid’s Schedules
  • Make Weekly Meal Plan
  • Lay out their Clothes
  • Update Their Reward Chart

WRITE OUT THE KID’S SCHEDULES

On Sunday evenings, I print out both of my kid’s schedules for Monday. After I have printed them out, I update their dry erase boards with their schedules. For each day of the week, I color code each activity by the hour. By doing this, it helps me and my husband aware of what their day will look like, what activities/supplies they we will need for that day, and will also help plan our day on our end with our work/business schedules.

MAKE WEEKLY MEAL PLAN

This right here, has been a total life saver in itself. Do you know that if you plan all of your families meals, drinks, and snacks for each day, how much stress and decision-making you have just eliminated from your daily life?!  When I started implementing a weekly meal plan into my family’s schedule, I immediately started running more efficiently on a daily basis.  By the way, when I do make my weekly meal plan, I typically only schedule out Monday-Friday, since the weekend is more chill.  On my weekly meal plan, I map out each day’s breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner for the whole family.

LAY OUT THEIR CLOTHES

This may vary from week to week. Ultimately, if you can plan and prep their clothes for the week, you have hit the jackpot!  However, I find myself usually laying their clothes out the night before for each day.  By doing either option, will definitely help you be more efficient. Also, besides kid’s clothes, be sure to also include their underwear and/or socks in the prep.

UPDATE THEIR REWARD CHART

For each week, we update the kid’s reward chart by erasing the previous week’s stars and updating the current week’s with a fresh start for them to earn their starts for this week. This has helped a lot especially with the kids since it makes them more conscious on the things they know they have to do.

I hope this has been very helpful for you! If aren’t already doing so, try prepping on Sunday for the week and let me know how it goes. You’ll be amazed at how your life will be more efficient, effective, and productive!
